BOD Decisions on Member Suggestions for 2011 () implemented or are in the process of implementing:
Advertise Multi Year Membership renewals on the renewal notices
Multi-year membership has been a great success. Steve Bedo will make sure the new order of the membership renewal cards offer this multi year option.
Find someone to share Editor Duties to help out Todd with the Magazine
Allan Anderson has been appointed as Co Editor and will be sharing the editing responsibilities with Todd Barrett.
Better communicate the discussions of the BOD and let members know we are listening to their suggestions.
I have said this before and will say it again, the BOD listens to and discusses all ideas that are forwarded to us or posted on the club board. Over the past 2 years we have made it a point to communicate all our discussions thru posts like these and will continue to do so. Just because the BOD does not vote to act on a suggestion in no way mean it was not discussed nor does it mean it was a bad idea.
Better communicate the path forward of the MOGH to the membership.
The BOD will continue to post quarterly reports from the MOGH on the club site quarterly. We will continue to push to publish new discussions and directions and try and keep our members as best informed as we can on the MOGH.
Look into Local Clubs as options for additional membership
The BOD has re-instituted a Presidents meeting that will take place each year at the convention where the Presidents of all local clubs are invited to attend. During this meeting the local clubs can exchange ideas with other clubs and the CC>CC on issues like membership that could potentially benefit both organizations.
In order to make more nominations for BOD, spell out exactly what is required of the office.
All BOD positions have been asked to produce a list of requirements for that office. Most are completed but a few still need to be worked on.
Look into having a First Timers Gathering prior to the convention with speakers to let them know what to expect
The BOD really likes this idea and will attempt a First timers Breakfast next year on the Thursday morning before the convention.
Look into additional functions for spouses of members like the ladies Tea that Sandi Steffner Organized previously
This event was held again this year by Sandi Steffner. Future events are always encouraged and anyone that is interested in planning one should please contact the BOD or the convention chairs. Sandi did a fantastic job with this for the past 2 years and we hope she will continue with this great event.
Discuss allowing sponsor tables at the convention like the Las Vegas review Journal in exchange for free advertising
The BOD has agreed to allow sponsor tables at the convention for next year.
Discuss developing a policy on what we will allow and not allow as far as other sales, auctions, tournaments or private room events.
"The BOD does not allow any special sales events of casino collectables that are scheduled to occur inside the host hotel during the convention week or at any location during the hours of the convention. We need to do everything we can to protect our convention, its dealers, members and the cub.
Discuss developing a policy on what we will allow and who can raise money in the name of the club and how it will be handled.
The BOD will add a statement in the Code Of Ethics stating that all fundraising activities in the name of the club must have prior approval of he BOD
Discuss what it will take to get the Planning committee up and running again
Jim Follis has agreed to head up the planning committee and the BOD will request monthly reports from him.
Discuss Policy on BOD members publicly endorsing candidates. Is it right for us to do so.
The BOD had decided that individual board members endorsing a candidate will continue to be allowed but this must be done as individuals and not acting as part of the BoD.
Discuss a brainstorming approach to ideas by club members so they don't feel they are being criticized
The Brainstorming an Anonymous suggestion idea can be accomplished thru the Planning Committee. Anyone who wants to submit an idea or suggestion but not go thru a BOD member, is encouraged to submit it to the planning committee where it can be discussed and presented to the BOD.
Make modifications to the Club web site to generate some excitement
The club website is already undergoing a renovation and will try and do exactly what is suggested.
Consider offering a small selection of issues for readers on the web site to show how great the mag’s are, but only allow full access to club members.
Portions of articles are already offered on the web site and we need to continue to follow thru on this idea.
Lose some of the “club” stuff from the magazine and focus more on stories and articles.
This is already being done starting with the next issue. Many of the normal reports we usually see will be absent from the magazine and only available on the web site. Financials will still be reported in the magazine in the first issue of each year to comply with Not-For-Profit guidelines.
