() nice to have a greater voter turn-out -- we don't & some people just need to accept it. It seems a bit odd that many people can't accept the fact that we have a majority of voters that either (A) don't care about the outcome or (B) are afraid to vote because they think that they'll vote for the wrong person.
My belief is that (A) is the prevalent sentiment. It's a hobby, something that people should enjoy, something that many people turn to to avoid daily politics. I'm actually thankful that those that vote really care about the club, instead of someone who may just put a check next to the first name that appears at the top of a ballot. Is that really what we're hoping for...REALLY?? That our election draws votes from members that aren't really passionate about the direction of the club or that haven't done a little reading or research to determine the person that they truly feel is best for the job.
While we would all like to think that everyone that's a member should be involved in the direction that the
takes, reality is that the majority just don't care enough...it's a hobby. And they're probably happy enough just to get their quarterly magazine & enjoy their little hobby without being bothered with all of the ancillary BS.
Quite honestly, I'd rather see an election with 300 votes from members that care versus having 1500 votes from members that don't.
