while as I stated before, all the ideas that have been expressed here will be discussed, here is the point I am trying to make.
Right now the envelopes are marked on the back with a name that is checked off a list to see who voted.
The envelopes are opened and the "Folded" and unviewed paper inside it set aside in a basket. they are opened at a later time and read for the first time in front of witnesses so there is no way to tell what vote came from what envelope.
If people dont trust that method, why would they trust a double envelope method? I mean if someone is going to cheat and open the ballot after looking at the name on the envelope, what would stop them from opening both envelopes?
The bottom line is either you trust someone or you dont. In my personal opinion this does absolutely nothing to add confidence to the few people that dont already trust our election chairs. I mean what would stop someone from opening both envelopes at the same time?
You say put them in a seperate basket and open them later? Isn't that what is happening now with the folded ballots?
As I said before, it will be discussed, but I honestly dont know how this will make someone feel better about voting that didnt before.
Just my humble opinion,
Doug
