in the UK it's still school time so although I have been to a few conventions in the past few years, I won't be coming to the next few (well, maybe 8 years - my daughter is still quite young).
It's a shame because the dates used to change a little to give people with less flexibility a bit more chance to get there.
I do agree though it's good to have the dates fixed in advance, just didn't work for me.
