No rush to accomplishment; A Greg Susong Memorial

I find that I fully agree with Jim Kruse's post, that we should NOT, in haste, rush to create a memorium to Greg. I believe that within our hobby, Greg's contributions will stand the test of time.

However, at the same time, I would hope that we NOT lose sight of the fact that it is most appropriate to do something to memorialize Greg, and if nothing else, we should quickly resolve to put into motion a group or committee to look at this and to have a finalization in-place by next year's Convention.

In the meantime, it is reasonably acceptable (in my mind) for ideas and considerations to be brought forth in this forum, if only as an expression of the grieving process for some. Perhaps from this, an exemplary concept may arise.

Moreover, I believe that in order to affect anything, the BoD MUST be in the approval process. Of course the BoD also has the authority to take on this matter unto themselves, and rightfully do good by Greg's memory. However, for the purpose of greater diversity, I would respectfully request that BoD appoint a committee to handle this, or to put it forward as a function of the newly re-established Planning Committee to solicit ideas and considerations and present same to the BoD for a selection. From there, the group will hammer out the details and make it happen!

While I consider Greg to have been one of my all-time best friends in this hobby, I also recognize that I am not alone. Many of us feel that way, and even those with a less intense association should still be able to be heard in this matter, and this Message Board is the place for that.

I thank you for reading this message and I look forward to a befitting and perpetual recognition of our friend, Greg Susong.

Respectfully,

Jim Follis
