rather not hear the facts, this is a serious issue that every member should be made aware of.

I know every year we hear complaints about the room rates and every year like clockwork the posts come out of the woodwork claiming the club is trying to rip them off in some way because they can get a cheaper room rate by booking elsewhere or thru an online discount site.

Well folks, the reason the rates are where they are now and we are in danger of losing our Convention hotel is because more and more people are doing exactly that. Have those people that complain about a $89 Saturday night rate checked what it would cost to stay at Bellagio, Mandelay Bay, The Palms or the Wynn?

I am not sure that most people know this but while our club was securing a $79 room night last year the DEFCON convention which brought in 5-10 times as many room nights was paying $109 weekdays and $129 weekend (At least thats what I was told by several of the attendees). And that is for a convention that dwarfs the size of out own.
